The Heavy Taper Barrels in 5-1/4" and 6-7/8" have a front sight unique to them, the adjustable rear sight is like all other Mark rear sights. The pictures below show obvious differences. The 5-1/4" is collectable and best not messed with.

But have some info up,,
There are various After Market Uppers that COULD be on your pistol and even
AMT made a Copy of the Mark II Pistol that parts interchange,, SO,, Don't
ASSUME the upper that is on your pistol is what came on it.
A Ruger upper SHOULD always say "Ruger" on it unless someone removed
the wording.

Standard Taper Barrels (Pencil Barrels) in 4-3/4" and 6" did not come from factory with adjustable rear sight and the front sight is too short to accommodate an adjustable rear sight. You will need a taller front sight if wanting an adjustable rear sight. The standard adjustable rear sight will fit this dovetail slot. NOTE Very early Standard pistols used a narrower dovetail and they are collectable, best NOT to mess with it.
The Ruger LITE pistol barrels are a full 1" diameter and use a SHORTER front sight than the steel Bull barrels do.
The 10" Ruger Mark II pistols used a front sight unique to them and the front sights are no longer made. It used a taller sight than the bull barrels since the 10" barrel is slightly tapered.
